The File Manager in cPanel allows you to upload files directly to your hosting account without using FTP. This is useful for adding website content, media, configuration files, or backups. In this guide, you’ll learn how to upload files quickly and easily using File Manager.
Step 1: Log in to cPanel
- Go to your cPanel login page (e.g., https://yourdomain.com/cpanel), enter your username and password, and click Log in.
Step 2: Access the File Manager
- In the cPanel dashboard, scroll to the Files section and click File Manager.
Step 3: Navigate to Your Target Directory
- In the File Manager, use the folder tree on the left to browse to the folder where you want to upload your files.
- For most websites, this is the public_html folder, which contains your main site files. Click the folder to open it.
Step 4: Upload Files
- Click the Upload button from the top menu.
- A new tab or window will open with the upload screen.
- Drag and drop files into the upload area, or click Select File to choose files from your computer.
- Wait for the upload to complete — a progress bar will appear.
- Once finished, you’ll see a success message.
Step 5: Verify Your Upload
- Go back to the File Manager tab.
- Click the Reload button in the top menu to refresh the folder view.
- Confirm that your uploaded files are now visible in the selected directory.
Your files are now uploaded and ready to use. You can link to them on your website or edit them directly in the File Manager if needed.
